Motorsport Italia announces the participation of Michael Rendina in the 69th Rallye Sanremo, valid for the Italian Absolute Rally Sparco 2022 Championship, in preparation for an interesting complete program in the FIA European Rally Championship 2022.

The young son of art thus follows in the footsteps of his father Max Rendina, Italian Production Champion 2012 and World Production Champion 2014, and prepares for his debut in a CIAR race at the wheel of a Renault Clio Rally5 prepared by Motorsport Italia with the colors of the Gass Racing Team. Rendina will once again be navigated by Mario Pizzuti, a highly experienced navigator with nearly 200 races under his belt and a long collaboration with Max, with whom he won the 2014 world title.

Participation in Sanremo, one of the most iconic of the entire tricolor circus due to the long historical tradition that accompanies this event, will represent an important test for Rendina in view of a program in the FIA ERC that will start from the next Rally Islas Canarias. The Roman driver, born in 2002, has in fact confirmed that he will participate in the remaining tests of the championship, therefore also in the Rally di Roma Capitale, at the wheel of a Renault Clio Rally5 prepared by Toksport WRT.

The 69th Rallye Sanremo will start from Sanremo on Friday at 14:00 and will run five special stages in the first stage, with the last two completely at night. Six other special stages on Saturday, including the 19-kilometer long “Langan”. The finish will be in Sanremo again on Saturday at 5:20 pm.

For Michael Rendina it will be the fifth race of his career and represents an important leap in quality after the fifth place obtained in mid-March at the Rally Valle della Guardia with a Renault Clio S1600. It will be a great opportunity to increase the experience and compete in a race with special stages and mileage worthy of an international level.

“I am really excited for this new experience - commented Rendina - and I really hope to be able to play a good race. The main objective is to regain confidence with the Renault Clio Rally5 that I was able to drive last year at the Ronde di Sperlonga, even though it will clearly be a completely different context here. We will face 122 kilometers of special stages with a total race over 400 kilometers, I have never played such a complete race and I am really looking forward to starting. It will be a very important testing ground in view of the commitment in the European Championship and I will take advantage of every opportunity to learn and increase experience and feeling with the car ".
